Lady’s day has come at Grafton

-

EVERYDAY Lady’s trainer Steven O’Dea kept ticking all the boxes on his checklist – the filly’s impressive barrier trial, the inside gate, a suitable race and good prizemoney.

In the end, the decision for Brisbane-based O’Dea was a no-brainer to send Everyday Lady on an eight-hour return float trip in an endeavour to break through in the Fillies and Mares Plate (1006m) at Grafton today.

O’Dea is renowned for his astute placement and looks to have zeroed in on the right race for Everyday Lady to make her season comeback.

Everyday Lady might be giving away age and experience to her rivals but she looks to have more upside after showing promising signs during her juvenile career.

She went to the races twice last autumn for a debut third at the Sunshine Coast before being narrowly beaten at Murwillumbah.

O’Dea then spelled Everyday Lady and the filly was tuned up for her Grafton return with a stylish Doomben barrier trial effort over 1000m a week ago, running second.

“I was quite happy with her trial and, although she is racing just seven days later, she has done very well since that Doomben hitout,’’ O’Dea said.

“The Grafton maiden does look a nice race to kick her off.”
