OUR FIXER UPPER FIXATION

HOUSE Rules winners Aaron and Daniella Winter are the proud new owners of a waterfront home at Broadbeach Waters, but hopefully not for long.

The two-storey, 243sq m property is a “flipper”, with dance teacher-turned interior designer Daniella and carpenter Aaron planning to turn it into a multimillion-dollar dream home and relist it for sale by December.

“We’re ready to ground running,” said.

“It’s pretty hectic. It’s going to be busy times for us ahead.”

The Gold Coast couple, on the hunt for a property to flip for more than two months, used some of the $200,000 prizemoney they won on the Channel 7 reality series to help fund the purchase.

“We were looking for a house that already had (council) approvals,” Daniella said.

“There aren’t a lot, to be honest. Then this came up. We were very, very lucky.”

The busy parents of young sons Jaxon and Brooklyn certainly didn’t waste any time getting started; they picked up the keys on Friday and got down to work on Monday.

A renovator’s delight, the house’s previous owners bought the property for $650,000 in 2011 and started – but never finished – demolition and restructure works as part of a planned overhaul.

Those early works remained untouched for the hit the Daniella past seven years. making the five-bedroom, three-bathroom, two-car garage home a perfect project for the House Rules winners.

“The previous owners had plans lodged already through council but they ran out of money,” Daniella said.

“They got all the approvals through for us it’s a case of getting in the house and doing the demo.”

Daniella and Aaron, who made some slight modifications to the previous owners’ plans, intend to give the property a chic coastal style with high-end, fashionable finishes.

“We’ve changed the house a little bit to modify it for open plan living in line with what the market needs are on the Gold Coast,” she said.

“We’ve put a contemporary twist in there and added another bedroom and bathroom for what will potentially be a five-bedroom, four-bathroom home.”

The couple are looking forward to applying their magic touch to the property without the conditions and interruptions they faced in House Rules.

“We will have a film crew on board tracking our progress along the way but it won’t be stop/start like it was on the show,” Daniella said.

The reno will see the kitchen opened up to the pool area, the staircase converted and remodelled, upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms extended on to a balcony, and all bathrooms and toilets remodelled.

A butler’s pantry and a new grand entrance will also be added, the lounge room will be converted into a lounge room/ cinema room space, and the ground floor study and bathroom will become a guest quarter bedroom and ensuite.

The couple also plan to install an outdoor patio and entertaining area.

So what happens if Daniella and Aaron do such a good job, they can’t bare to part with their handiwork?

“I can’t go too crazy and be as flamboyant as I would like to; we have to sell it.

“We’re in knee-deep worth of debt,” Daniella said, laughing.

“We love our current home. There is an attachment there due to the show.

“We’ve got some tricks we want to present to the Gold Coast that no one is doing.”
