TOVEY: Dedicated great grandmother and renowned home baker Mavis Tovey of Elanora is celebrating her 99th birthday this month.

Mrs Tovey, who lives at Blue Care Pineshaven, is a mother of three who also boasts 14 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Together with her late husband Jimmy, the pair were well known on the southern Gold Coast. They used to live at Palm Beach and were regulars at Tweed Heads Bowls Club. Mrs Tovey enjoys playing bingo and although she is no longer able to bake herself, dessert is her favourite meal.
