Swan call to winner
DUSTIN Martin received his Brownlow Medal from last year’s winner Patrick Dangerfield and yesterday revealed he had heard from another previous Brownlow medallist since the victory.
“I had a few missed calls from Swanny about 5am,” a smiling Martin said, referring to Collingwood’s former party boy and 2011 medallist Dane Swan.
One of the first calls Martin made was to his father Shane, who watched the count from Auckland after immigration laws were changed to uphold his deportation for links to the Rebels motorcycle club.
“I gave Dad a ring straight away. He’s super proud,” he said.
