Medals for squad call
RICHMOND coach Damien Hardwick believes the AFL should provide greater recognition for players who miss out on grand final selection, saying a premiership squad isn’t just about the 22 players who run out on the day.
Hardwick said consideration needed to be given to handing out premiership medals to those who had represented the club during the season.
He cited as examples his former Essendon teammate Dean Rioli, who missed out through injury in 2000, and Bulldogs skipper Robert Murphy last year.
