Gun scare at prison

-

A POLICE officer has walked into a Brisbane jail armed with their gun, sparking a major security breach.

Still carrying a service-issue Glock, the officer walked into the reception store of Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre before a staff member noticed the weapon.

Prison officers said as many as 10 inmates could be inside the reception store at any time.

A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman confirmed the officer inadvertently walked in with the service weapon.

“The handgun had been unloaded at the gatehouse, as prescribed by QCS practice directives, but was not secured.”
