JESS SINGS LIKE A BIRD FOR AIDA

A HIGHLIGHT of the Liz Clift “By Appointment Only” fashion launch last week was hearing the soaring voice of mezzo soprano Jessica Martens.

Young Jess (pictured) is singing on the sand at Coolangatta during the current run of the Australian Opera’s production of Aida.

How has she found singing on the sand? “It has been pretty amazing. The sand helps the desert setting of the opera and the outlook from the stage is wonderful,” she said.

“The only glitch is every time things get up to full volume all the lorikeets take off from their roost in the trees. I feel sorry for disturbing their beauty sleep but that’s show biz.”
