A FORMER Gold Coast mum was named by the FBI as a person of interest after her crazed roommate killed scores and wounded more than 200 in a machine gun massacre in Las Vegas.

Marilou Danley had been at the centre of a huge search after her roommate Stephen Paddock was suspected to have shot dead more than 50 people from the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas hotel.

Police shot and killed the gunman in his room, but issued an alert for Danley. Hours later officials said they were confident she had been “located”.

One of her sisters, Liza Werner, still lives in Australia and last night said: “I can’t comment at the moment. I can’t say anything. I’m sorry, sorry.”

Friends last night revealed Danley, who worked in the gaming industry, lived in Nerang for about 10 years and had an Australian husband before moving to the US.

“I would never have thought she would be tied up in anything like this,” a former neighbour, who now lives in Robina, told The Gold Coast Bulletin. The woman hasn’t seen her long-time friend for about five or six years since attending the funeral of Ms Danley’s mother near Brisbane.

The woman told the Bulletin

it had been 30 years since she lived next to Mrs Danley, who is originally from the Phillipines.

But they lived next door to each other in Nerang for about nine years.

“I can’t believe it,” the 66year-old former neighbour of Mrs Danley said.

“She is bubbly, petite and full of life.

“She still looks the same. “She has a daughter and a granddaughter.”

The Robina woman told the Bulletin that when she heard about the shooting her first thought was for her long-time friend’s safety.

Mrs Danley was a good mum and respected person. She was living in Reno and was last known to be working at a dress shop.

“We stayed with them in Memphis in 2000, she said.

“Her daughter took us to Graceland.”

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. SHE IS BUBBLY, PETITE AND FULL OF LIFE
