A QUEENSLAND boy is on life support after contracting the flu.

Ten-year-old Jaymon Gaul, from Chinchilla, was rushed to hospital on September 23 after his mother found him in a nonresponsive state.

He has been on life support in Brisbane’s Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital since September 27 after his lungs collapsed and a blood clot was found in his right thigh.

Jaymon has also contracted pneumonia, bacteria in his blood, and a bone infection, his mother Tasha said.

She said that Jaymon wasn’t the same after he was knocked over by a dog last month, which caused swelling to his leg.

X-rays showed no major damage and he was sent home.

But last Saturday, Tasha found him unconscious and his skin had turned grey, she said.

“He was very delusional (when he regained consciousness). He thought he was in Melbourne, at the hospital there,” she said.

A hospital spokesman confirmed Jaymon was in a critical but stable condition. ONE WOMAN has died following a two-car crash on the Pacific Motorway early last night.

It is believed the female driver lost control of her vehicle and spun off the highway at the Southport on-ramp.

It then careened back onto the road around 6.15pm, colliding with another car.

Her car flipped over onto its side and received significant damage. The second driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Police responded and conducted traffic control with all lanes blocked except for one.

Five paramedic units also attended the scene, including critical care and the High Acuity Response Unit.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
