Poor parking a waste

-

DRIVERS often grumble about never being able to find a park but the problem could actually be the result of poor parking skills rather than a lack of spaces.

A British study suggests motorists are so bad at parking, almost a fifth of the available space is wasted.

Experts reviewed 120 British roads where kerbside parking bays were “full” and there was no space between any two vehicles to fit another car.

They calculated how much extra space would be available if all the cars used park-assist technology that guides the vehicle into a space.

The study found that across the UK, up to 17 per cent of parking space on streets could be freed up.
