MOVE OVER PUP, IT’S ALL EYES ON KITTIES

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

SORRY pups, but this event is strictly kitties only.

The Carrara Markets will host the Gold Coast’s first Cat Carnival this weekend which celebrates everything feline.

There won’t even be a dog bowl in sight, says events manager Mia Lee. “I think that’s what’s going to be a point of difference (as) I have been to a couple of expos and they’re all focused on dogs,” Ms Lee said.

It seems the idea has caught on, with people believed to be coming from as far away as Melbourne, Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast. Ms Lee said up to 10,000 people per day could attend the Cat Carnival, which will show a wide array of cat-themed products and moggies.

“There’s an area for adoption cats and there will be lots of kittens as well as grown up adult cats,” she said.

There will also be a breed showcase boasting Siamese, Persian, Bengal, Scottish Fold and Ragdoll cats.

Instagram famous cats Didga and Boomer and Wintson Smushface will also be in attendance

The Cat Carnival begins at 9am on Saturday and Sunday at the Carrara Markets.
