BARING ALL ON LINKS TO HEFNER
A RACY Surfers Paradise nightspot is celebrating a curious connection to Hugh Hefner’s Playboy empire.
Hollywood Showgirls owner Craig Duffy claims a nude sculpture in his venue is the only other mould of a statue Mr Hefner commissioned to depict his interpretation of “the perfect woman”.
Mr Duffy paid $16,000 for it 13 years ago for the club fitout and understood the original was in the Playboy Mansion.
Hollywood staff plan paying tribute to the late Hefner with a theme party tomorrow, doubling as their 13th birthday.
Mr Duffy has news articles reporting the sculpture was an art piece for a Playboy exhibition and modelled on 1980 Miss December Terri Welles, who graced the magazine’s first airline stewardess edition.
“It may be the best body ever seen and obviously Hugh Hefner thought so,” Mr Duffy said. “Who am I to argue with the legendary Hugh Hefner?”
