“He was the most kind and loving soul. Everyone who met him loved him, his contagious laugh and smile. He was truly an amazing person. He will be missed by so many,” Quinton’s aunt Kilee Wells Sanders posted about her nephew.

Of Hartfield, his friend Troy Rhett described him as one of the great ones.

“There’s really no solace to this other than we know Charles, and he was probably doing his best to make sure others were safe and being helped,” Mr Rhett said. “He was just so special. He’s going to be missed by many.”

Angie Gomez graduated from Riverside Polytechni­c High in California where she was a popular cheerleade­r and choir singer with a great sense of humour.

“She was a wonderful young woman who had her whole life ahead of her,” her former teacher Lupe Avila said. A GoFund Me page was set up to pay for her funeral and within hours raised well over $25,000.
