BOND: Rayna Bond knows what it feels like to walk a mile in a cancer patient’s shoes with the volunteer leading a weekly stroll to boost fitness and morale for people impacted by the disease.

Cancer Council Queensland are looking for more people like Ms Bond (left) willing to give their time for a great cause.

“I get to meet some fabulous people and the camaraderie that comes from being with others who understand what you’ve been through is pretty wonderful,” Ms Bond said.

While some community support volunteer roles are most suited to those with a cancer experience, either as a patient or carer, there are also roles available for anyone with a passion for supporting those affected by cancer.

Volunteer roles are available with Cancer Council’s Cancer Connect program, Community Activity Program and ESA Wig and Turban service.

Volunteers provide practical or emotional support to cancer patients undergoing treatment and their loved ones, offering hope and encouragement at a time when it’s needed most.
