MASCOTS STAND OUT
MASCOTS are a tradition of major sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games. In April 2016, an Australian koala named Borobi became a welcome addition to the Commonwealth Games mascot family which now stands at 11.
Keyano, a grizzly bear, was the first Commonwealth Games mascot at Edmonton 1978. Mascots at previous Games hosted in Australia have been a kangaroo called Matilda at Brisbane 1982 and a south-eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo called Karak at Melbourne 2006.
A scotch thistle was the mascot for the Games at Glasgow 2014.
