Curious koala turns home invader

-

A CURIOUS koala has given Helensvale residents the fright of their lives after it climbed inside through their doggy door.

The koala, believed to be an adult female, entered the house around 2am on Tuesday and woke the residents by creating a commotion in the lounge room.

But Wildcare president Karen Scott said it wasn’t too crazy that the koala had been found in the house.

“They’re not terribly bright,” she laughed, adding they have been known to ‘knock’ on doors and enter houses randomly.

“They do weird there’s no logic to it.”

Ms Scott said they things, could simply be curious and decide to investigate.

“It was a shock for the residents,” she said. “I think they first thought it was a snake (in the room), they were probably happy to find a koala.”

A volunteer picked up the koala shortly after and released her close by in an easement with eucalypts.
