Confidence high for Ace

-

ACE High remains the favourite for Saturday’s Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick after 10 horses accepted for the Group 1 feature yesterday.

Ace High is rated a $3.50 chance on the back of his gutsy win in the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes (1800m) at Rosehill a fortnight ago.

Godolphin have two runners in the race in Sanctioned, the $4.60 second favourite, and Astoria at $8.

The Chris Waller-trained Tangled ($6) and the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Youngtrained Sully ($8) are the other two horses under double figures in the betting.

Jockey Tye Angland is confident after Ace High’s effort in the Gloaming Stakes.

“He hit the line strong the other day,” he said.

“The best thing about him is he’s going to go forward and put himself into the race.

“He’s not really banking on luck, he makes his own luck by putting himself there (and) I know he can stay.”
