Mead to lead PNG

-

BRONCOS flyer David Mead has been named the captain of Papua New Guinea for the World Cup, after coach Michael Marum revealed his 23man squad yesterday.

Marum speculated earlier this year that the likes of James Segeyaro and Rod Griffin could take on the role of skipper for the tournament, but it was Mead who prevailed as the team’s leader yesterday.

It will be a massive honour for the Kumuls fullback, who played in the 2008 and 2013 World Cups with Stanley Gene and Neville Costigan as the respective captains.

Burleigh Bears forward Luke Page is also in the squad.
