ACRO-BRAT ITCHING TO SHOW OFF

- SUZANNE SIMONOT

COMPETITION for eyes and ears will be fierce when more than 200 performers put their best feet, ideas and inspiration forward at this year’s Buskers by the Creek celebration at Currumbin.

A cast of colourful and supremely talented performers including singers, musicians, comedians, dancers and magicians will vie for the attention of a crowd of thousands along the banks of Currumbin Creek for the popular annual event on October 13-14.

They include acro-brat ADDJ, a former Cirque du Soleil acrobat who fuses slapstick and adrenaline-fuelled feats into a hair-raising street performance spectacle. He’ll be joined by musicians including multi-instrumentalist Tay Oskee, Byron Bay busking great Juzzie Smith, looping harpist ELSKA, Melbourne musician Joel James and primary school student pop rockers Valley Vibes for the event.

The artists will perform and compete for prizes including a place in the 2018 Byron Bluesfest Busking Comp and a berth at the Airlie Beach Music Festival. Visit www.buskersbythecreek.com.au for details.
