Blanc’s back on board

- SUZANNE SIMONOT

ADULTS-ONLY cabaret Blanc de Blanc has returned to the Gold Coast to pitch a new Spiegeltent in Southport – and take care of some unfinished show business.

The Strut & Fret production bowled over audiences when it premiered on the Coast in April in the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent at Broadbeach as part of Bleach*.

Director Scott Maidment said cast, crew and local audiences had all been eagerly awaiting its return ever since.

“We were inundated by the public writing to us saying ‘when are you coming back, when are you coming back’,” he said.

Blanc de Blanc is now back for a month-long run in new venue the Aurora Spiegeltent, at a new location at Broadwater Parklands, just north of the Aquatic Centre.

“It’s such a beautiful place to be. It’s perfect,” Mr Maidment said.

A burlesque meets circus spectacle with plenty of puns and loads of skin, Blanc de Blanc was created to fill a void in smart, sassy entertainment offerings for adults.

The show shakes and stirs audiences with adult themes, nudity, coarse language, sexual references, smoking on stage, strobe effects and pyrotechnics – and its cast’s amazing physical feats.

“Gold Coast people have really proven they love the Spiegeltent and they love the naughty, risque element of it,” Mr Maidment said.

“We’re thinking about making the Gold Coast an annual stop on our agenda.”
