WHY do people continually whinge about another casino being built on the Gold Coast?

Who cares if it doesn’t work? A lot of jobs in the build and work for many until it fails.

If you don’t like casinos, then don’t go. I don’t like the ballet so I don’t go but that does not mean I think it should not be allowed. ROD WATSON SURFERS PARADISE WORLD Mental Health Day is on Tuesday, October 10, and I encourage everyone to think about mental health and wellbeing of yourself and those around you.

The journey to positive mental health is not a journey we should

walk alone. I have worked with disadvantaged young people for more than 40 years.

Each one has their own unique story and journey to share.

I encourage them to connect with trusted family and friends to share their journey towards better mental health, and I am asking you to do the same.

Whether or not you are experiencing mental illness, there is always someone around you who is.

As a community we need to look out for each other and that begins with talking. From my experience on dealing with mental health I know that starting a conversation can be the biggest turning point for vulnerable young people.

At Youth Off The Streets, we have dedicated youth and case workers who assist young people.

The truth is that 14 per cent of Australian young people aged four to 17 have mental health or behavioural problems.

Take the time to discuss these issues, how they are affecting you and how you are overcoming them.

By doing so, you can set the path for not only your own growth, but for others to follow in their journey.

This World Mental Health Day, I urge you to support each other and, in particular, support our young people.

ANOTHER reason to vote No is to give the thumbs down to the leaders of industry who have created obscene wealth for themselves by replacing workers with machines.

They then have the audacity to tell us to vote their way in the postal ballot … or else.

It’s like that Qantas bloke said: “Vote Yes or don’t fly Qantas – our own airline.” What a hide.

So come on, vote No to tell those money grabbing machine owners to keep out of our politics. KEV DICKSON, COOLANGATTA PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk likes to shift the blame on any issue Labor cannot manage to the LNP, either Malcolm Turnbull’s Government or the previous Campbell Newman Government.

Her tactic has become all too tedious and so predictable (“Premier shifts M1 blame,” GCB, 3/10).

It’s amazing the funds she can access for other projects. I’m sure Bill Shorten’s waiting in the wings to give Ms Palaszczuk an open cheque to fix the debacle.

No? I think you’re right.
