Smash ride for Spencer

BRITISH jockey Jamie Spencer and Sydney’s rider Tim Clark have snared mounts in the $10 million The Everest at Randwick next week.

Spencer has been selected to ride former Japanese sprinter Brave Smash while Clark has been booked to partner Coolmore’s filly Tulip.

Trainer Ben Smith hasn’t given up hope of getting In Her Time into the rich race.

The Australian Turf Club will announce up to six Everest emergencies out of the Sydney Stakes field as insurance in case something goes amiss with one or more of the 12 confirmed starters in the race.
