Tweed golfer sending summer warning to rivals

-

TWEED Heads pro Damien Jordan has signalled his intentions for a sizzling summer following a birdie blitz at the Kooralbyn Pro-Am.

Jordan added to his Victorian PGA Championship earlier this year by carding a six-under par 66 on Wednesday to go with his two-under from Tuesday’s first round.

He finished at the Scenic Rim course two shots clear of Michael Sim after six birdies on the front nine led to a halfway total of 30.

A steady back nine 36 closed out a comprehensive victory over a quality field containing Terry Price, Ryan Haller and Peter Senior, who finished fifth at four-under.

“I hit it close all day and putted well,” Jordan said.

“I started with a birdie and finished with a birdie, that’s always good. It’s great to be back playing this course.”

West Australian Sim, closed with a solid 67 to finish second.

“My short game was really good and kept me in it,” he said.

Senior’s strong finish could add to his growing hopes of returning from retirement for the Australian PGA on the Gold Coast next month.

The next stop on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series is the Murwillumbah Pro-Am on the Tweed.
