Tow truck operator sues government

- KELMENY FRASER AND KAY DIBBEN

A TOW truck entrepreneur under an exclusive contract to deal with cars under the state’s anti-hooning laws has filed a $15.4 million lawsuit against the State Government in the Supreme Court.

Dominic Holland’s online tow business tow.com.au has been responsible for towing and storing cars confiscated by police since soon after tough anti-hooning laws were introduced in 2013.

Mr Holland won a Telstra business award for his online tow company and was described as a “bold disruptor” in the industry.

Court documents showtow.com.au is now suing the State of Queensland for millions of dollars in unpaid bills for towing and storage services.

The company claims the hefty impoundment debts partly mounted up because police took too long to click a button in a computer program.
