Kennerley admits she almost shot abusive first husband

-

TELEVISION legend KerriAnne Kennerley (left) has revealed how a violent fight with her first husband almost ended in murder.

For the first time, the Brisbane-born entertainment host opened up on her experience being a victim of domestic violence to Seven’s Sunday Night host, Angela Cox.

Kennerley, 64, described her first husband, New York music producer Jimmy Miller, as “charming beyond belief”.

“He’s this really almost exotic, slightly mad, born-andbred New Yorker. He built recording studios where could record,” she told Cox. “It was terribly glamorous.” But the illusion was shattered when she said Miller became “very abusive” and allegedly began beating her.

“You just realise that when somebody is 6”2’, crazy off I their head – doesn’t matter which room you run into, all you do is close your eyes and wait for it to be over,” she said.

One night, when Miller was “being very bullying and aggressive and nasty again”, Kennerley decided she was through with being a victim.

“He always had a .22 rifle above the door in the bedroom,” she said. “I just went and got the gun, aimed it at him and said, ‘I will shoot you’.”

When asked if she would have pulled the trigger, Kennerley admitted: “I probably would have.”
