Funding for innovators goes to local projects

TWO Gold Coast-based projects will receive Queensland Government funds totalling $40,000 as part of the latest allocation­s from its $6 million Internatio­nal Education and Training Partnershi­p Fund aimed at attracting more internatio­nal students to the state.

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Curtis Pitt said the funding round would see 16 projects across the state receive $465,584 in government funds to be matched by organisati­ons involved.

“Projects in regional Queensland dominate the third round of funds, including the two projects on the Gold Coast,” he said.

In the funding, Study Gold Coast, headed by Shannon Willoughby (pictured) will receive:

$20,000 for a developing a marketing toolkit for services and facilities relevant to internatio­nal students or prospectiv­e students and agents, and

$20,000 for assessing the success rates and factors influencin­g the retention of internatio­nal students. The results will help internatio­nal education providers better target and retain students.
