Appeal on Rebel’s win

BAUER Media yesterday confirmed it will appeal the record $4.5 million defamation payout to actor Rebel Wilson, arguing it has broad implications for the Australian industry.

Among grounds on which the publisher will likely appeal are Wilson’s claims that she had lost contracts and movie deals.

Media lawyer Justin Quill said Wilson’s defamation damages payout was “off the charts” and had implications for the rest of the media.
