Cyber threat on the rise
AUSTRALIA has seen a 15 per cent increase in cyber security incidents reported to authorities over the past year.
Scams, fraud and possessing prohibited material were among the 47,000 incidents reported to the Australian Cyber Security Centre.
Minister Assisting Prime Minister for the Cyber Security Dan Tehan will launch the ACCC’s 2017 Threat Report at the National Press Club today.
Mr Tehan will warn that cyber espionage is still “alive and well”.
More than half the cyber security incidents in 2016-17 were online scams or fraud, an increase of 22 per cent.
