BOTH the State Government and Gold Coast Council failed miserably with improving roads for the Commonwealth Games.
Council has allowed a massive amount of construction on top of failing infrastructure.
State failed with M1 Upgrade. Oh, and that other major blunder. That’s the one where they decided to hook stage 2 of the light rail to Helensvale. If they hooked stage 2 instead to Nerang then 90 per cent of the Games venues would have been synched with light rail.
This would have actually got cars off the road.
Now can you tell me who I invoice for the loss of income I will suffer over these Games?
Don’t get me wrong, I support the Games it’s just state and local governments’ lack of forward thinking will cost me thousands then there is my staff. RADISH
I SUPPOSE we should not doubt the possible world of driverless cars but I hope I’m no longer around when it happens (GCB, 7/10).
These vehicles are supposedly foolproof provided all cars nearby are driverless too. Will all people be sold on driverless cars? Not sure! KEN JOHNSTON, ROCHEDALE SOUTH
THE Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock was a millionaire. Donald Trump should order Paddock’s assets be used to pay for his victims funerals and hospital costs.
It should be made law that anyone who kills or even harms another human, should have their assets awarded to the victims, who are the ones normally forgotten about by the courts. KEN WADE, TWEED HEADS
JUST to clear up recent text discussion on motorcycles using pushbike lanes.
It is legal to use a pushbike lane at “bicycle” storage areas by which they mean the often painted green strip at traffic lights or stop lights.
It is not legal for them to use it to lane filter (by which I gather they mean to travel). However, when using bicycle storage areas (really, confusingly named) a motorcyclist must give way to any “vehicle” which may already be using the lane on a green or yellow light.
Lane filtering is also legal if you hold an open licence (not P or L plater) and your speed is less than 30km/h, but not between another vehicle and kerb, not over 30km/h and not if it is not safe (brilliant).
Motorcyclists can also use the road shoulder on a road where the speed limit is higher than 90km/h, providing they are an open licence holder and providing they are travelling less than 30km/h.

PLEASE tell me the Turnbull government isn’t toying with the idea of incarcerating 10-year-olds because they think they are a threat to national security.
If there is even an element of truth of such a draconian race to the bottom, then stop the bus – I want to get off. D.J. FRASER, CURRUMBIN
