The Oyster Bar at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort is running an Oktoberfes­t menu featuring all the Bavarian favourites, from crispy pork and country-style potato soup and bratwurst to warm pretzel. Don’t forget apple strudel for dessert, and pair your meal with a stein to get the full Munich experience. Executive chef Ewald Jeske is proud of his German heritage and promises to serve up “absolutely authentic Oktoberfes­t food”. Reservatio­ns are essential.

Sign up for the Shiraz Wine Flight at Sofitel Gold Coast’s room81. Shiraz originated in the Rhône wine region in France and guests will discover the different climates, blends of grapes, picking periods and skills that contribute to producing a hearty Australian shiraz. The cost is $35.

The Lanes has partnered with The Design Collective on a Halloween themed Twilight Food Market at Mermaid Waters. Eat, drink and be scary, with some of the region’s freakiest food trucks, craft stalls and live music from 3pm. Come dressed in your favourite frightnigh­t costumes – there’s a free trick or treat treasure hunt and best dressed prizes for the kids. There will be paella, churros, German sausages, Mexican, organic food, loaded fries, satay sticks and plenty of gluten free and allergy friendly options.
