DOMINO’S AIMS TO DELIVER WITH NEW SYSTEM

- CHRISTIAN EDWARDS

DOMINO’S Pizza Enterprises has introduced new performance measurement software for its franchisees as part of a range of initiatives aimed at improving its customer service operations.

In an investor update focusing largely on technology yesterday, Domino’s chief Don Meij said a new “360 degree” review system of franchises would help improve franchisee performance.

It would make use of measures including benchmarks against peers, customer feedback scores, food safety and sales growth, he said.

“This new operational focus will become a way of life for Domino’s and we will work with all of our franchisees to identify exactly where they are at and how we can help them improve,” Mr Meij said.

Domino’s will roll out its GPS-based Anywhere delivery service in Australia after testing it in the Netherlands.

The service allows deliveries to parks, beaches and other places without specific street addresses.

Domino’s will also trial heated lockers in Australia by Christmas. The lockers keep food hot at a store until picked up by customers, who can unlock the devices using their smartphones.

The chain faced some heated customer blowback last week when social media belatedly erupted over news — announced in July — that Domino’s was ditching CocaCola and associated softdrinks in favour of those under the Pepsi and Schweppes umbrella. Domino’s signed a 6½-year exclusive distribution deal with Schweppes, ensuring Coca-Cola remains out of the Domino’s picture until 2024. The pizza maker said sales of Schweppes drinks was increasing.
