Kate puts mental health before morning sickness

-

THE Duchess of Cambridge has been seen in public for the first time since news of her pregnancy broke six weeks ago – and showed a hint of a baby bump.

The 35-year-old (pictured), who is expecting her third child with Prince William, is still suffering from severe morning sickness, which forced Kensington Palace to announce her pregnancy far earlier than planned as she had to miss events.

An aide said Kate was still poorly but was determined to attend the event at Bucking-William, ham Palace to mark World Mental Health Day because it is a cause close to her heart.

Dr Nicola Byrom, of charity Student Minds, said of Kate: “She’s amazing. What a fighter that she’s here.”

Kate and Harry have made campaigning about mental health one of their priorities, with both royal brothers saying in recent months how the death of their mother, Princess Diana, in a car crash when they were children had left deep emotional scars.

“All three of us have seen that mental health is at the heart of so many of the issues we are passionate about,” William said in a speech to the reception.

William and Kate’s third child will be fifth in line to the British throne.
