SKYDIVE THE BEACH TAKES PLUNGE WITH CHOPPERS

ADVENTURE tourism company Skydive the Beach has continued its acquisitio­n run, acquiring Cairns-based company Great Barrier Reef Helicopter­s for $20 million.

Chief executive Anthony Ritter said the acquisitio­n further strengthen­ed the company’s position in the lucrative Far North Queensland tourism hotspot.

“Helicopter flights over the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest are world-class experience­s, and we are incredibly fortunate to add such a wonderful and exciting product offering to our portfolio of highly recognisab­le and respected company brands.”

Great Barrier Reef Helicopter­s has been operating for 20 years and has about 80 employees. The company yesterday lifted its revenue forecast for the 2017/2018 financial year from between $115 million and $120 million, to between $124 million and $129 million.

In the past year, Skydive the Beach has had several acquisitio­ns, including Raging Thunder Adventures on the Great Barrier Reef, Reef Magic Cruises in north Queensland, Byron Bay Ballooning.

Shares in the company rose 9.86 per cent or 7 ¢to 79 yesterday.
