Payne’s Kaspersky virus

MICHELLE Payne remains likely to partner Kaspersky this spring despite forfeiting the prized Toorak Handicap ride on the import on Saturday because of illness.

The 2015 Melbourne Cupwinning jockey told Englandbased trainer Jane ChappleHyam she wouldn’t be fit enough to ride at Caulfield on Saturday after missing trackwork for the second time in four days because of a cold.

Luke Nolen has been given the Toorak ride but Kaspersky’s owners indicated Payne would be given every chance to reclaim the mount in subsequent Group 1 races.
