Kids score big fat fail

MORE than 99 per cent of Aus­tralian chil­dren are fail­ing to meet com­mon health bench­marks, with par­ents is­sued a blunt warn­ing to “take no­tice of the bleed­ing ob­vi­ous” and fix the cri­sis.

The shock­ing re­sults from a land­mark study re­veal 0.5 per cent of chil­dren aged 5-16 meet the six rec­om­men­da­tions cru­cial for safe­guard­ing health.

Chil­dren’s ealth was mea­sured by their ad­her­ence to eat­ing two serves of fruit and five veg­eta­bles a day as well as 60 min­utes of daily ac­tiv­ity.
