Great road makeover
THE Great Ocean Road, one of Victoria’s prime tourist attractions, is set for a $50 million safety makeover, the federal and state governments have announced.
Federal Transport Minister Darren Chester says improving safety is a major priority for the Government.
There have been six deaths and 213 crashes on the road in the past five years.
“This is simply unacceptable for one of the country’s great scenic drives,” Mr Chester said last night. Work begins early next year.
