He was first-up without a trial and as soon as the UBET market went up on Friday money piled in at $9.50 and he started $2.90. He found himself in front dictating a slow tempo and skipped away at the top of the straight.

Zoff Of The World (Race 8)

It was an outstanding win by the fouryear-old, who was crunched from $3.50 into $3 in the last three minutes of betting. He led upon settling, overraced a touch and handed up the lead at the 1200m mark. At the top of the straight he hit the front again and powered home for a strong win in deteriorating conditions.

LOSERS

Making Shadows (Race 1)

It was disappointing for favourite backers in the first. Making Shadows drifted from $1.50 out to $1.95 but was still clear favourite. The four-year-old over-raced early, had to come wide in the straight and ran on well but just couldn’t pick up the leaders

Brilee Rose (Race 3)

Punters couldn’t get enough on the debutante Brilee Rose from the Kelly Schweida yard and backed her from $2.50 in to $2. One confident punter outlaid $4200 at $2.15. Clearly this filly has ability but looked a bit green. She should be improved by the run.

NEXT TIME

Kastanos (Race 1)

Kastanos was solid at the $9.50 quote with UBET. Despite being beaten a fair way, he stuck on well in the straight.

Duke Of Frederick (Race 2)

The Murwillumbah-trained horse was unwanted at the $7 and drifted out to $9.50. He raced keenly behind a slow pace, struck trouble and got shuffled back. In the straight he was badly held up but once clear, hit the line well.
