Rivals didn’t lei down

-

TWEED Heads have shared the honours with Queensland Cup rivals Ipswich in a thrilling exhibition match in Hawaii.

Lined up as a drawcard fixture for the American island’s football festival, the Ohana Cup, the foes did not disappoint.

Tweed trailed 12-0 early but found the tryline before halftime to ultimately claw their way back into the contest. The match came to life after the break with a flurry of points to set up a 30-30 scoreline, with the Seagulls and Jets ultimately unable to be split.

The match doubled a unique family reunion for Seagulls captain Sam Meskell and younger brother Ryan, who is attending University of Hawaii and playing college football.
