MISS SUPERCARS READY TO HAND OVER KEYS TO SUCCESSOR

- RYAN KEEN ryan.keen@news.com.au

MISS Supercars Charlotte Cushing is looking forward to easing off the throttle after a hectic year balancing her role with a full-time nursing job.

The born-and-bred local, an oncology nurse at Gold Coast University Hospital, says juggling both made for an “insane” year. But the 28year-old is nostalgic about hanging up her crown at the weekend’s GC600.

“It’s bittersweet. I thought about it yesterday and started welling up a little. But then I was thinking I will also get to go back to being a normal person after Saturday.

“But I’m leaning towards more that I’m sad it’s over.”

She attended four Supercars events during the year – in New Zealand, Townsville and two in Sydney – and hands over her crown this coming Saturday night.

“It has been insane. You don’t stop – there has always been something happening, you want to do something with Supercars or do something with work and you just try to fit it all in as best you can,” she said.

Miss Cushing used her profile to raise money for the Variety Australia kids charity.

Proceeds from the evening wear judging at Mercure this Friday also go towards it.

She is guest of honour at QT Gold Coast for this Friday’s glitzy Porsche Carrera Cup Black and White lunch.

Carrera Cup stars Cam McConville, Jaxon Evans and Jordan Love will also attend.

Adding extra sass are the cast of saucy cabaret Blanc de Blanc. Tickets are $115.
