Rider charged with evading police

A MOTORCYCLIST allegedly evaded police in northern NSW by speeding away and hiding in bushes.

Police spotted the Kawasaki Nijna 250cc bike travelling along Wommin Bay Road, Kingscliff, on a Kawasaki Nijna 250cc about 1am on Saturday. When police did a Uturn to stop the bike rider for a breath test, the rider allegedly turned into a street and accelerated away.

Police will allege the rider reached speeds up to 100km/h in a 50km/h residential zone on Sand St before riding on to the front lawn of a house.

As police arrived, the man tried to hide behind bushes.

He was charged with a number of traffic offences and for entering enclosed lands.
