CLOCKING ON FOR THE GAMES COUNTDOWN

-

VISITORS to Brisbane Airport will definitely know how long until GC2018 with a 5.2-metre tall, 1.75-tonne countdown clock unveiled at the terminal last week.

The clock developed by Swiss watchmaker Longines will count down the minutes, hours and days until the commencement of GC2018.

It took six people 800 hours to build and was overseen by the professional eye of Longines, the Official Timekeeper and Watch of GC2018.

GOLDOC Chairman Peter Beattie said Longines’ worldrenowned experience in delivering timing, scoring and results were critical to delivering a great Games.

“With thousands of athletes competing across 18 sports and seven parasports, Longines will be delivering precise timing, scoring and result services to feed the global broadcast and provide official results for every heat, match and final across every event at GC2018,” he said.
