PREPARED FOR THE LONG ROAD AHEAD

-

ONE of the largest ever packages of new and upgraded roads and pathways is being rolled out across the Gold Coast, ahead of the Games.

The projects range from a suite of new pedestrian and cycle pathways, to intersection upgrades, road reseals and other local road improvements.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the city was bolstering the State Government’s local road upgrades with more than $100 million worth of its own projects to help with the ongoing legacy campaign.

“We currently have the most number of projects underway in a single year,“said Cr Tate.

“This is all about congestion-busting and providing alternate transport options for our community – before, during and after the Games.”

The Mayor said major new pedestrian pathways would soon be unveiled at key Games venue precincts across the city.
