Clues sought in car yard inferno

The owner of a Gold Coast car yard which went up in flames at Arundel yesterday is asking the public for any informatio­n about the blaze. Just after 4am fire broke out at Paul Stevens’ Autocoast Car Sales lot on Olsen Ave. The inferno damaged about 30 cars. Eight fire crews battled to put out blaze by 5.50am.

Wolves offer tempting for Roberts

Tyrone Roberts has almost certainly played his last game as a Titan, with the utility on the cusp of signing with Super League outfit Warrington. Roberts has been in negotiatio­ns with the Titans for months about a new contract, with the Gold Coast’s latest offer a two-year extension. A move to England to play in the Super League initially held little interest for him, but the Wolves have been persistent and it’s understood Warrington have made a three-year offer he will find hard to refuse.

The Today show has aired emotional tributes to Lisa Wilkinson, with Karl Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys struggling to hold back tears as they thanked their departed host and admitted the news would take “time to sink in.” Weekend Today host Deborah Knight was given the last-minute call-up, but hers is likely to only be a temporary remedy.

Why Wilkinson really quit for Ten

Fans and fellow broadcaste­rs have taken to Twitter to praise Lisa Wilkinson’s decision to walk away from Nine over pay parity, saying networks must value female staff. On Monday, Wilkinson dropped the double bombshell that she would quit the Today show effective immediatel­y. She then tweeted she was “absolutely thrilled” to join Ten’s The Project in a senior hosting role starting in January.
