GOLD Coast Olympic champion Grant Hackett, who made a well-publicised comeback to swimming, is primed to make a comeback to the business world after landing a new job.

Hackett, 37, told the Gold Coast Bulletin he had been hired as general manager of distribution in the Melbourne office of financial services group Austock and was “loving it".

The father of two and twotime Olympic 1500m champion completed a Masters in Business Administration at Bond University in 2012, and has previously worked as an executive for Westpac, for which he was also an ambassador for 13 years.

Austock Group is a listed company run by a former Westpac colleague, Rob Coombe.

It provides development loans for financial sector businesses as well as life insurance and financial services.

Mr Coombe said Hackett had officially joined Austock in September.

“Grant forms part of the executive committee, which is responsible for the Austock rebranding and product relaunch in December 2017,” he said.

“We are excited to have Grant on board and he is already making a significant contribution to the team.”

Hackett has been spotted around the Gold Coast in recent months, looking fresh and healthy compared to the dramatic scenes that saw him arrested at his parents’ Mermaid Waters home in February.

He is a qualified financial planner and spent three years as a director at Sydney-based hedge fund, Regal Funds.
