Warburton takes on billboards

-

FORMER V8 Supercars Australia head James Warburton has been appointed chief executive of billboard company APN Outdoor.

Mr Warburton will take over in January, replacing former chief Richard Herring, who retired in September after 13 years in the role.

APN Outdoor chairman Doug Flynn noted Mr Warburton’s experience in chief executive roles with V8 Supercars, Ten Network and Universal McCann.

“He brings to the company extensive executive leadership experience with a significant understanding of complex media environments,” Mr Flynn said.

Mr Warburton had also been a director of Eye Corp – Ten Network’s out-of-home media business – and had more than 20 years experience in marketing and sales leadership roles at companies including the Seven Network, APN said.

“Mr Warburton’s hands-on experience leading companies within the media sector, navigating evolving technology platforms, and creating value for stakeholders, means he is very well positioned to lead APN Outdoor through its next growth phase,” the billboard company said.

He will receive a base salary of $1 million, including super.
