THE Socceroos have jumped seven places to 43rd in FIFA’s world rankings after the World Cup playoff victory against Syria.

It has laid the platform for an unprecedented pot-three seeding at Russia 2018, if Australia beats Honduras in next month’s two-leg playoff.

Australia notched 1-1 and 2-1 results against 77th-ranked Syria to set up a clash against the Central American nation.

It’s the highest ranking for Ange Postecoglou’s men in more than 12 months.
