Leary set to sign for Burleigh

-

TOWNSVILLE Blackhawks player of the year Blake Leary will chase his NRL ambitions elsewhere next season.

Leary will shift to Burleigh where he will chase an NRL contract with the Gold Coast Titans after playing three first grade games for the Cowboys last season.

“Blake is going home to the Gold Coast and no doubt he’ll be missed here,” Blackhawks football operations manager Adrian Thomson said.

“But he’s always intimated to us that he would go home, so he’s going to Burleigh.

“Oshae Tuiasau is also moving back to the Gold Coast for family reasons.”

Leary recently said NRL was still his top priority.

“My personal goal this year was getting myself back into that NRL squad, so we still have to wait and see what happens on that front,” he said.

“But apart from that, it was great year and I’m thankful to everyone who helped me along during my time up here. I still just want to work my way back into an NRL system and see what comes of it.”
