BYE BIKINI, HEY MISS BRAND REP

- RYAN KEEN ryan.keen@news.com.au

MISS Supercars is going next level corporate – searching not just for a bikini babe but a stylish brand ambassador.

The path to being one of 24 finalists battling during this weekend’s GC600 no longer involves regional swimwear pageants in bars. It was online, mostly based on interviews.

The prize includes $4000 of public relations training to school the winner as a corporate ambassador.

Ex-winner Katie Stevens can attest to the evolution – she’s employed as Miss Supercars Ambassador, mentoring finalists and doing promotional and TV work all season.

“I have not been in a bikini the whole year. It was all ambassador work, corporate suites – either in a grid suit or corporate attire,” she said.

“The pageant aspect is still there but it’s not about cheering on girls in bikinis, it’s more about mingling with patrons.

“They are trying to find someone who can represent Supercars, speak well and who is good for brand exposure.”

Miss Supercars 2018 will be crowned tomorrow night.
