Charities face fines
HUNDREDS of Queensland non-profit groups have been threatened with fines after failing to file annual returns with the charity watchdog.
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission yesterday named and shamed 339 groups around the state that have not submitted annual information statements for 2016. It means almost one in 20 of Queensland’s 7670 charities have not met their legal obligationsand face fines of up to $5250 if they don’t put things right.
