Vandals pull out phone lines in attack on school

-

STAFF at the Guardian Angels School in Ashmore have been left frustrated after an act of vandalism on Wednesday night.

Vandals are believed to have broken a glass panel at the front of the administration office before ripping out phone lines from the outside connection box.

Assistant principal Bernard Kearney said they also pulled out some drawers.

“The alarm sounds are very loud in this office,” he said.

“Apparently they got a bit of a shock and tried to rip out the phone lines.

“They were in and out very quickly.”

Mr Kearney said this sort of thing didn’t happen very often and the biggest headache was for admin staff waiting on the phone lines being repaired.

He said the school alerted parents to the incident through the parent’s portal, Facebook and via SMS.

The phone lines are back online.

Police are continuing to investigate.
